time computer tech for over 15 years, so overlook the above and I will
help you fix your computer.
I'm going to start with the most common computer problem in last 5 years. Your home page changed. You are getting ton's of pop-ups. The 2nd most common problem for several years is Viruses. Spyware and Malware by far are a greater problem, as modern Anti-virus software is very effective at preventing Viruses. Here is the problem. All the major computer manufacturers, Dell, HP, Compaq, Gateway, Acer, etc. Have anti-virus software pre-installed, usually Mcaffee or Nortons. However, it is a 90 day trial. After 90 days no Updates, so new viruses can get thru. Shame on them. Either give you a 1 year subscription or no Anti-virus software at all. There is no 3rd most common problem. We are now into either hardware or software. So a few questions are in order. Does your computer turn on and boot into windows? If it does, it is most likely a software problem. Click this link. Windows Problems. Does your computer turn on, start to load windows then freezes or error message? Click this link. Windows Repair. Does your computer turn on, but nothing shows on screen? Look at the lights on computer when you turn it on. Do they seem normal? By computer, I mean the box that the CD-Rom is in.
